Red, White and Blue Bookmark

This is a wonderful little bookmark which is quick to crochet. It makes a nice patriotic gift to share with family, friends and classmates. Make it for gifts or your own good book!

MATERIALS: #10 Bedspread weight cotton thread: approximately 9 yds of blue, 6 yds of white and 5 yds of red. Size 7 steel hook [or any size thread and matching hook].

SIZE: About 6-1/2" X 1-1/4".

ABBREVIATIONS: ch = chain, sl st = slip stitch, sc = single crochet, dc = double crochet, tr = treble crochet [wind the thread 2X around the hook, work off two loops at a time]. * = repeat directions from *to*.

TO FINISH: Cut thread 1 inch long and weave in ends. Press lightly if desired.

I. BLUE thread: ROW 1 - Ch 5, sl st in 1st ch to form ring. Ch 3, [counts as dc], 2 dc in ring, ch 2, 3 dc in ring. ROW 2 - Ch 3, turn; in ch 2 space make 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc; tr in dc at end of row. ROWS 3-21 - Repeat row 2. Finish. [Row 21 = Right Side.]

II. WHITE thread: On right side attach thread in any ch 3 space along side. Sc in same space; *ch 2, dc in same space, 2 sc in next space. * Repeat * around book mark except in each end space make 2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc; then continue with * around. Instead of final sc make sl st in 1st sc. Finish.

III. RED thread: on right side attach thread in any ch 2 space along side. Sc in same space; *ch 2, dc in same space, sc in next ch 2 space.* Repeat * around except in each end space make 5 sc; then continue with * around. Instead of final sc make sl st in 1st sc. Finish. ENJOY!
